Scenester kids...

Scenester kids make me want to gouge out my blackened soul with a rusty nail. I wonder when people will realize that the "scene" has become homogeneous. It's full of 14-year-old girls with uneven bangs, black and white striped shirts, and tattered low-top black Chuck Taylors, who swoon over homosexual kissing and pathetic whiny lyrics and overuse the symbols.

Their favorite quote is, invariably, "The truth is you could slit my throat and with my one last gasping breath I'd apologize for bleeding on your shirt" because it like, so totally describes their relationship with that one HAWT sophomore who totally ripped their hearts out when they were like, SO in love with him. Their favorite type of music is, of course, "emo, screamo, and hardcore," three terms which, in their minds, invariably include the bands Taking Back Sunday, Thrice, and Hawthorne Heights.

Robert Tilton

I saw this guy on TV this morning at 4am saying that for a mere one to five thousand dollar 'vow of faith', that would brought closer to god.
He spouted things like: "When you know the truth you will be debt free in heaven."? "With your vow of faith you will be one step closer to god, and in his house your riches will not rust."? "In heaven your debts will be paid" "God needs the meat, bring the meat into gods house."? Each time he got a donation handed to him he would utter something in a language I didn"??t understand and say "Thank you Jesus"?.

I did some research and I can"??t believe this douche bag is still on TV. In the early 90s his company was making an estimated $80 million a year. When the house of cards collapsed, he got out of it all and sold his ‘worship center"?? for 6 million dollars. In 2001 he bought a 1.3 million dollar house and south Florida where he lives now.

God vs. Flying Spaghetti Monster

A touching scene.

For those of you unfamiliar with the Flying Spaghetti Monster, it started as a letter to various school boards that are considering teaching "Intelligent Design" or have already passed rulings that it will be taught in their districts. Basically it asked them to teach the theory that everything was created by a Flying Spaghetti Monster alongside of Intelligent Design. You can read the original letter HERE. I'm sure it was seen as some sort of childish prank by the recipients of the letter(s), however there is a lot more behind this than simple fun.

The fact of the matter is that a lot of people see "Intelligent Design" as a much bigger, sad joke that has never been funny. Trying to pass off mystical nonsense as science is not funny, especially when you are corrupting the minds of children with your bullshit.

This must end.

I'm not sure if I can trust Dictionary.com anymore. I looked up the word science on their site for another rant I'm working on, and I was surprised to see that the 5th definition was "Science Christian Science". This appalled me for a number of reasons, so I felt compelled to write them a letter on their feedback form. Here is what I wrote:

"I recently looked up the word "science" in your dictionary and saw "5. Science Christian Science." listed as a definition of science. This concerns me, as "Christian Science" should be listed as an antonym in your thesaurus when science is looked up. I'm not sure who lobbied to have this added in, but it does not belong there. Science is based on facts derived through observation and experimentation, whereas Christianity is based on a story in a book. Mysticism and science do not belong together.

Please have one of your editors review this. Thank you for your time."

I have a sinking feeling that only one voice on this is not going to do much, if you feel the same way please write them a note about it yourself. This nonsense has gone too far.

Oh look I'm still at work

13 hours down.. 3 to go..
Double shifts should be against the law.

meh.

the royal show is in town for about a week. im prety sure every country has one of these. crappy rides for outrageous prices and a few dollars of candy wrapped in colourful bags sold to hordes of idiots. hard to see how anyone gets exited about the royal show. i did actually go though. a bottle of vodka and a can of spray on whipped cream make it all the more interesting.

Another day

Oh boy its monday... I get to go to school and take a test this morning. Then I will go home and sleep and wake up at 2:30pm to get ready for work. I hate double shifts. Sixteen hours is way to long to be working in one day.

Spent six hours working on the site this morning. I got a lot done, but couldn't get two modules to cooperate. Damn buggy published code.

Bible Quotes!

Everyone loves a good bible quote! They make you feel all warm and fuzzy, like some big guy in the sky is giving you a big hug.

I Corinthians 14:34-35: "women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the Law says. If they want to inquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home; for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church."
--Wow, is there a "Feminists Against Christianity" movement? If not, why?

Deuteronomy 22:28-29:"If a man happens to meet a virgin who is not pledged to be married and rapes her and they are discovered, he shall pay the girl's father fifty shekels of silver. He must marry the girl, for he has violated her. He can never divorce her as long as he lives."
--Sounds like a reasonable enough punishment. All you Christian rapists out there, be sure you have the money and are ready to make the commitment before you rape. (SEE THE COMIC)

Proverbs 23:13:"Do not withhold discipline from a child; if you punish him with the rod, he will not die."
--I actually like this one. Does it apply to other peoples' kids? I'm looking at you, screaming child at the movies. (SEE THE COMIC)

It's your fault for living there...

I think it is important for people to understand how horrible the federal government's response was to the disaster in New Orleans. The Federal Emergency Management Agency or FEMA is responsible for coordinating local, state, and federal agencies to respond to natural disasters such as hurricane Katrina. FEMA has 4 domains of emergency management:

* Mitigation: Reducing the severity or likelihood of the hazard.
* Preparedness: Ensuring you have the capability to respond to the hazard.
* Response: Immediate actions taken to save lives, property, the environment, and the economy.
* Recovery: Subsequent actions taken to restore property, jobs, and services.

I'll go over the specifics of how well they upheld each of these domains, starting with mitigation. Michael Chertoff, secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, when asked why the federal government did not send helicopters, buses, and other forms of transportation to help evacuate the city of New Orleans, said that it was the responsibility of the local and state governments to perform the evacuation process. In the same interview he also eluded to the fact that living in New Orleans was a risk and that it was their problem. Way to blame somebody else. Perhaps it had something to do with the President being on vacation and refusing to come back to work early to help deal with a crisis. The devastated city will still be there in 3 or 4 days right?
