El Ano de los Mexicanos

Has anyone been following all the hollering and bitching about the immigration bill? It's a hell of a situation, cuz lets face it illegal Mexicans are everywhere. The issue has been avoided seemingly for years, but now (I wonder why now) it has come down to the yes or no: do we let them stay or make them leave and punish employers of illegals etc. The government has been shrugging and turning away for years now (a stern finger wag to Wal-mart, you know better than to hire those illegals you rascals you) but never anything more. Now the big issue: Should they stay or should they go (clash anyone?). On one hand, they come to our country and harass us and bring drugs and crime and not to mention job competition (no they don't steal our jobs but they compete for them and often win because they'll do anything for nothing) and if it becomes legal for them to come in they will (and I say WILL) take over. I'm not talking about government, the cracker whities will never allow THAT but as far as you and me are concerned, they'll outnumber us easily in years. We'll all be speaking Spanish and celebrating cinco de mayo.

Sticks and Stones

Thinking back to my elementary school days, I remember how cruel children are to each other. Constant name calling and bickering which sometimes resulted in mild hazing, were commonplace. The instigators were usually referred to as "bullies."? These bullies had two basic kinds of assault, verbal, and physical. How were the victimized children taught to respond you ask? Physical assaults were commonly dealt with by the adults in one form or another. The verbal assaults were usually shrugged off and the children were told "Sticks and stones can break your bones, but words can never hurt you."? I remember this was usually the generic comeback to any insult, and was so widely used that it was extremely annoying.

There is however a message within that tired old saying that we have either forgotten, or failed to perpetuate to the rest of the world's population. That message is simple, ideas cannot hurt you. The vehicle of these ideas whether they be verbal, written, picture, or video are intangible and cannot hurt you unless you let them.

Now let me pose the question to the world. What the fuck happened? Instead of telling children to toughen up, parents will now sue the instigating party. There are cases of parents suing schools over 7 year old kids "sexually harassing"? each other. Something is definitely wrong here. If we keep treating kids like this they are going to be a hundred times worse than the current generation of parents with their kids. While on the subject of parents over-sheltering their kids this article is a prime example of how overly sensitive douchebags are going to censor and/or sue the rest of us to death if given the chance.

Muslims are another (more extreme) example of how out of touch people are with the concept of hurt feelings vs. ACTUALLY being hurt. All it takes to get them riled up to a riot-frenzy these days is a poorly sketched drawing of Mohamed. If this image hurt them, Allah save us all if they ever find goatse pictures (look it up on your own time, but take my word that its probably the grossest thing you can possibly see aside from mutilated corpses). (Note: Don't think I'm just ripping on Muslims here, Catholics get their undergarments ruffled whenever someone badmouths their precious Mary, and Christians in general get upset over almost everything.)

Pictures of naked people, depictions of sexual acts, rude language, simulated violence, or any groupings of words or pictures for that matter can do you no harm. If you choose not to be exposed to these things, good for you. Turn on your V-chip, home school your children, use the parental controls available for ANYTHING electronic these days, live in a sensory deprivation chamber for all I care, and leave those of us who choose to be exposed to whatever we want alone.

Basically what I'm getting at is that ideas don't cause pain, you cause yourself pain by being offended. You also choose what you are and are not offended by, and last time I checked you can choose what you expose yourself to for the most part. You can live in your censored, filtered, watered down, padded world, and we can still have our controversial, spicy world to indulge our need for the unfiltered flow of ideas.

___Hostile Takeover: The End of Democracy as We Know It___

So in case you are not "in the loop," my current, and next story (and the one after that, apparently), deal with corporations. Anyone who knows me knows that I'm not a fan of corporate culture. I don't fit in that environment, so I'm going through the idea of what's going on, and looking at it with my Sun Tzu perspective, but I think what's going on, and where things are headed are in a not so good development.

Most banks are owned by corporations, which means that corporations control the currency, the ability to buy land, the ability to create credit cards, the ability to do anything regarding money. The Feds create the money, but we generally outspend on a credit card. Oddly enough, people have forgotten about the ability to save money. Rather than paying interest on a loan for a car, you could save your payments up in an interest bearing account, and get the car, with money left over. Rather than fianancing that new HD-TV, you have the ability to afford it for the 37 dollars a month. Making interest as opposed to paying it can be explained. This rabid dog consumer culture needs to be put down, and luckily, our faceless corporations which hide behind boardrooms have a solution.

Hello and Welcome to the End

So I decided that I'm going to change my socio-political blogs to being over here, since myspace sucks most of the time, and is far too public. Anyhow, what lately has been an issue is mandatory health insurance, and I am opposed to this for several reasons. The number one reason is that I know that I will eventually become older, it happens. As we grow older, we need our doctor's more and more, so our need for insurance increases, as does our policy's premium. Now when someone states that you must provide insurance for your employees, you rule out a lot of small businesses that simply can't afford to provide insurance for their employees. Not to mention, it provides an environment ripe for discrimination against the middle aged and older Americans.

And God Created Idiots...

I'm sure most of you have seen or heard about these protesters showing up at soldier's funerals across the country. To be more precise, it has been Reverend Fred Phelps' and members of his Westboro Baptist Church congregation. Some of which are children. They are holding up signs that say "God Hates You" and "Thank God For IEDs".

Let me just say, "What the fuck is wrong with these people!?!?" It is one thing to protest the war but it is a whole other ball park to protest at a funeral. I mean, the soldier isn't even there to defend himself. He's dead! What makes these scumbags think that the family hasn't suffered enough? All I can say is WWJD, mother fuckers! WWJD!

Racism For Dummies II

Ok. I thought that I was finished with this but after another run in with my neighbor I feel compelled to elaborate a bit further on the subject to anyone who will take the time to read my blog. In my last blog, I talked about the infamous saying, "I like black people; I just don't like 'niggers'." For clarity, I'd like to start with a few definitions. All of the following definitions can be found Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary.

http://www.m-w.com/dictionary

1. nigger Pronunciation: 'ni-g&r
Function: noun
Etymology: alteration of earlier neger, from Middle French negre, from Spanish or Portuguese negro, from negro black, from Latin niger

Racism For Dummies

Out of all the different things I hear people say on a regular basis, the number one thing I'm sick and tired of hearing people say is "I'm not prejudice. I just don't like 'niggers'. There are black people and then there are 'niggers'."

First of all, I want to know who in their right mind thought that it made sense to say that? I look at it this way. If you have to make excuses for yourself as to how you're not racist (especially to someone who never asked you), you can bet your pay check you are. Oh and FYI: You don't have to be in Ku KLux Klan to be racist.

Now, I'll look at it from the 'white' side of the spectrum...I don't really have any other way of looking at it. If you ask me if I understand what these ignorant people mean by that, I'd have to say yes. Do I think it really has anything to do with a color in my eyes? No I do not.

What's next?

Where do I begin? As I sit here and ponder my feelings, I can"??t help but wonder what events in life make you feel a certain way. What makes one happy? What makes one sad? What makes one indifferent? Now I know what you"??re thinking. "Damn, this guy is on his soapbox again!"? Well I"??m not sure if I am or not but I am most certainly indifferent right now. Am I happy? I"??m not sure. Am I relieved that a tremendous burden has been lifted off my shoulders? Yes. So why am I indifferent? The only reason I"??m sure of is the lack of time with my kids. I"??m not sure if I"??ll ever get used to not seeing them everyday.

Who are we?

Who am I? This is a question I never gave much thought to. I figured, as most people do, that I am what I eat, what I like, what I listen to and so forth. Since you know what you like to eat and what you like to listen to, then you should know who you are right? Wrong, the problem with society today is what we do in our everyday lives is based solely on what is hip and cool. So if we are conforming to what society says is cool, then what we eat, and what we watch are not indicative of who we are. With the bombardment of mass media, it"??s hard to determine what your personal identity is. You can pride yourself on being different but are you really that different? If you shop at Ross or Target, do you honestly believe that you are the only one that got that shirt on sale for 8 dollars? No. Do you honestly believe that you are the only one that ate at McDonalds? No. Well then if millions of other people are doing the exact same thing as you are then how do you have a "Personal Identity"?? In my opinion, our identity isn"??t what we eat or wear or watch. Our identity lies in our personal morals, our personal thoughts and what we do when we"??re alone.
